ban the bulb

just added banthebulb.org to the green list. this is a campaign to reduce [if possible ban] the use of incandescent light bulbs in favour of compact fluorescents. this is a simple but hugely effective way of saving energy and CO2 emissons - all my light sources have been low-energy for some years and i'd encourage you to do the same. availability used to be an issue, but that seems to be much improved. in any case, they last so long that buying a few spares when you do find them will see you sorted for years.

ironically commercial lighting in the UK is tightly controlled and has made huge strides in energy efficiency. it's the domestic market that is the problem - governments are reluctant to tackle the consumer directly.
